Welcome to Pinko Watch. We'd like to be your anti pinko!
Pinko is alive and well today. It is an insidious and pervasive evil in that its principal source of power is the exploitation of unfortunates
who seek to blame others [ie. society, Bush (still!), the rich, America, "the man"] for all of their problems. Although un-American in spirit, its self-centered (not
individualistic) outlook continues to permeate our society through a myriad of manifestations.
Pinko takes itself seriously but cannot stand up to honest analysis, humor, or the lessons of history, which is what this
site intends to subject it to. Please enjoy!
ETYMOLOGY OF PINKO
Although the term "pinko" was ironically coined by Time magazine in 1926, it has been used since the beginning of the twentieth century to refer to those of leftist sympathies (a lighter shade of red).
The word was widely used in the United States during the Cold War, especially during the Mc Carthy era, to label supporters of the Soviet Union.
Pinko Watch does not in any way endorse or support McCarthyism or its methods. The McCarthyist movement was a fearful,
myopic overreaction to a very real threat by the first of failed communist regimes.
